Following

received from Canton telegram No.131 of 3rd June begins.

Your telegram No. 61 I spoke to the Japanese Consul

General this morning in the sense of your telegram.

He noted and appreciated your language but replied that

the Japanese authorities having received this information

could take no chance and their aeroplanes were watching

the delta night and day and would pursue the Chinese

war aeroplanes into British territory if necessary,
